Durga Pooja Special Trains List 2016

Journeying with easy during the Poojas

One of the most important festivals that are celebrated throughout India is Navaratri. In fact, this is the only festival that is celebrated with such great pomp in almost every state of the country.
The Navaratri is a nine-day festival that celebrates the power and prowess of three main Goddesses of the Hindu pantheon- Durga, Saraswathi and Lakshmi. In fact, in most of the states, ceremonies are conducted that pay obeisance to Durga and Lakshmi, particularly. While Navaratri is celebrated with a lot of vigour in the North Indian states, Durga Puja, which falls within the overall Navaratri celebrations, is celebrated with great pomp in West Bengal. Durga Puja is also celebrated widely in Delhi, Mumbai and Varanasi.
Thus, needless to say this nine-day festival surrounding Navaratri and Durga Puja creates a lot of rush throughout the country. People travel from far and near to join their families during these celebrations. This is also a time when educational institutes remain closed for the festivities. Thus, there is also a great rush of students, who head back home to their families. Train compartments remain jam packed, and it becomes extremely difficult to get a reserved seat during this time.
In order to contain and control this rush, the railways introduce Pooja special trains that make it possible to accommodate the large number of people who travel during this time of the year. These trains are an addition to the regularly plying ones. They help in making it easier for people to travel to their preferred destination within the country.

The display of advanced technology, with Mumbai railway

The department of the Railway is much in the limelight these days. There are various reasons which are the key drivers of the popularity of this giant player in the field of mass transportation. In the field of mass transportation, the facilities provided to the passengers hold great significance. Understanding the changing needs of the passengers, the department of Railway also has started a number of attractive features and facilities.

The trains nowadays are fitted with a number of devices also. Hence, for the passenger, it is easy to enjoy the trip with the help of all such devices and facilities. The modern age is all about information technology, and hence one needs to have easy access to the internet. With the normal mobile internet, it is difficult to have the access as one is travelling on the train. To help such internet users while onboard, the department also has started Wi-Fi facilities in different trains. Particularly the department has offered this facility to a number of trains in Mumbai. One can use the facility and access the internet easily while travelling. The first question here comes to one’s mind is how to access free Wi-Fi in Mumbai Railway station. Well, the department has made it much simpler, and one can easily have access to this facility here. There are only a few steps one needs to take and after that one can have an amazing facility on his mobile or laptop that can connect him to the rest of the world with the medium of the internet.

The process:

The process to access the Wi-Fi is very simple. This system is named as Railwire. Hence one needs to first check the availability of the network on his laptop or mobile. Once the system tracks the Wi-Fi availability, one needs to select and ask to connect. With the clicking on connect button, it will redirect to the site Railwire.co.in where, one needs to provide authentication of the user. Here the user needs to provide his mobile number and name. As soon as the details are submitted, he will receive an OTP means one-time password on his cell which he needs to enter on the mobile or laptop that he wants to connect to the system. Once the OTP is entered, he can access the Internet via free Wi-Fi of the railway. Hence the system is too simple and easy as well as quick.

Advantages:

The prime advantage of the connectivity here is the faster speed and use of the time one may have to spend behind waiting for the train. There are also many professionals who are too busy and with the help of the internet connectivity available here can complete a number of tasks. In this age, the internet connectivity can also help one to enjoy the voice calling, and this can be much useful to the passengers in a different situation. Due to such facilities, only the department is considered as being modernized as well as more concerned for the facilities to its passengers.

Changed the station to catch a train?

Indian Railways has developed a number of systems with the passage of time, and due to such systems only, these days to travel with Indian railway has been made easier. The confirmation of ticket, online booking, checking the ticket, food parcel availability, tracking the train status, etc. are some of the known features of railway these days.

The majority of all these systems is accessible on the website of the railway or a smartphone with the help of different applications. To book the ticket, there are systems of booking developed by the department in the form of applications and website. One needs to offer different information while going for the booking. One needs to provide name, contact details, age and a few other details. But there are a few passengers who want to use this system, but in the case of trouble, they need someone to guide. One such critical issue is to change boarding point online after train booking. The main important point is the destination and boarding stations. But what if one has made any mistake and wanted to rectify the error. Well, in that case, there is also a solution, but one needs to follow certain processes. The process, if followed thoroughly, easy to make the changes.

The process:

The process to change the boarding point is simple. One needs to login the website of the IRCTC and checks the section of “Booked Ticket History.” Here one can see various tickets that are booked from this ID. One can also see the ticket booked where he needs to change the boarding point. One needs to click on that ticket, and there will be an option of change the boarding point. One can see different station names in the drop down and can select another boarding point option from the list. Once it is selected, one can save the change, and there will be a message acknowledging the changes made. Here one must note that these changes can be made for the tickets which are booked online only and not from the reservation counter. The change can take around twenty-four hours to reflect. However, it can be seen in the chart only before the four hours of the journey.

The change:

The change in the boarding point cannot be seen on the latest printout of the ticket also, and it will show the old boarding point only. One must check the same in the ticket history which is considered as valid and at the time of final boarding it is seen in the chart as well.

In the case of a passenger who needs to change the boarding point due to any reason this service proves much helpful and it is also simple that one can do it by self also. The change in boarding point can be done on the website as well as the application of the IRCTC on any smartphone. The change of boarding point confirmed with the system is also acknowledged by the department via an SMS as well as an email to the user.

Mumbai Train: The huge network has problems also of large size

The city of Mumbai has got great significance in the context of the nation. It is one of the metro cities and also known as the financial hub of the country. The city has a population of more than one crore and to meet the transportation requirement of people the local train network plays a vital role. However, the largest network of Indian railway also has to face various problems of the network in this city.

For the residents of Mumbai as well as commuters it is much helpful to know about the Mumbai Trains problem in Indian railway as it can help them save time and go for another option also. The worst problems here the passengers have to face is the late arrival of the trains at different stations. The traffic on the local trains is huge, and as one train gets delayed, the whole traffic of the next train also gets accumulated for the train which comes later. In case of any other express train on the same route arrives than the local train is also not cleared which adds into delay. There are also problems of cancellation of services due to water logging on low lines during the monsoon season, which creates a chaotic situation for the passengers as well as the department. The maintenance work is also a big factor due to which many trains are either cancelled or delayed till the lines are restored to the status of fully functional. Hence the big network has to face bigger problems.

Containing the rush during the festivals in August and September

The month of August is a busy time when it comes to considering the festivals that are celebrated in India. Quite a few number of festivals fall during this month. The country also observes a national holiday on the 15th of August.

Of the many religious festivals that are celebrated during this time of the year, the two most important ones are Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami. On Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie rakhi on their brothers’ wrists and even exchange gifts. Siblings who stay in different cities try to meet up to celebrate this important festival together. Janmashtami celebrates the birth of Krishna. People generally conduct pujas at their homes and dress up the idols of a baby Krishna is new and colourful attires. For some north Indian families, this is a very important festival, and hence, they prefer to spend it at home with their respective families. If the holiday for 15th August falls on a Friday or Monday, people also try and manage an extended weekend and travel back home.

Thus, during this time of the year, there is a general rush for train tickets throughout the month. If by any chance Ganesh Chaturthi falls sometime in August, then the rush increases two folds. In order to tackle the mad rush, the Indian Railways, thus, run a few special trains during this month. These All special trains help in dividing the rush and make it easier for people to travel back home to their families. These trains also come extremely in handy if you have to get a few last minute bookings done.

Indian Railways to go digitalized

Announcements over irritating loudspeakers and long depressing queues at enquiry windows will soon be longer seen at the railway stations.

The Indian Railways have developed a plan to go digitalized at the railways stations and use big LED screens to flash all passenger-related information.

SILENT ZONES

The main idea is to turn railway stations into silent zones like airports and to increase the revenue by advertisement side by side.

LED SCREENS DISPLAYS

The Indian Railways’ directorate has made a business model in which private agencies will be hired to install LED screens on a revenue sharing basis. After it gets implemented, all the information related to the passenger – departure and arrival of trains, tickets availability and others – will be flashed on these big screens that will be installed at every major points on railway stations. Commercial advertisement will be shown simultaneously for revenue. Railways expects to increase its revenue through advertisement up to Rs 10,000 crore by exploiting its rolling stock and real estate. At present the railways make a meagre Rs 300 crore through advertisements.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PILOT PROJECT

According to the plan, railways will set up about 100,000 networked large LED screens at 2,000 railway stations connected by making use of multi-path optical fiber network, having a screen in front of each train coach, in the circulating area, concourse, foot over-bridges, lounges and the waiting rooms. A testing pilot project will be done having about 10 stations, including the ones like Jaipur, Delhi, Bhopal and Varanasi among others. All the two thousand stations will be equipped with LED screens in the next two years. All sign boards, whether located inside or in open spaces, will be visible for twenty four hours from long distances and everything will be environmentally protected.

INCREASE THE REVENUES

As per the railway officials, the initiative would improve the financial health of the railways significantly which would also facing a burden of Rs 31,000 crore after 7th pay commission recommendations comes into action. Currently the Indian Railways make less than five per cent of revenues by non-tariff sources. Across the globe, railway networks earn 10-20 percent of their revenue through non-tariff sources.

OTHER SOURCES OF REVENUE

This is of greater significance as the Railway Minister doesn’t want to increase the freight tariffs or the passenger fares. Instead of that, he wants to focus on generating extra revenue through other sources which include advertisement, modified parcel leasing policy, export of railway equipment, cutting of working expenses and land monetization. For this thing, a new directorate has been created by railways to advertise in rail coaches, also at the track and near stations on a grand scale to increase the revenue significantly from non-tariff sources. The proposed project would be implemented by a consortium which involve RailTel, railways, advertisers and display screen manufacturers. Revenue-sharing model would be used for the project which will benefit all the mails.

Apta station: A Hero among Film Producers

Indian Railways, hit by falling incomes from film shooting at its areas, found a friend in need last budgetary year: Apta, a railroad station on the Panvel-Roha course of Central Railway, around 85 km from Mumbai. In the year 2015-16, the station earned Rs.32 lakh from film shooting and wound up as the most noteworthy income worker from film shoots for Central Railway. Which has other more well-known destinations like the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and the Churchgate station.

The station clearly has numerous favorable scene offerings over the 18 different options in Central Railway well known among movie producers of all shades.

The Apta station has been famous for a few reasons. It being outside the local train framework and its promixity to Mumbai is its true value proposition. Also, being more reasonable contrasted with other bigger and busier stations. It is less swarmed and there are less issues when it comes to security.

Rs.24.97 lakh of revenue was collected for the Central Railway from a four-day shooting for the Hindi film “Baaghi”, most noteworthy by any film in 2015-16.

An estimated cost between Rs.50,000/- and Rs.60,000/-  is incurred for a day’s shooting at Apta railroad station. These costs are much less than the Rs.1.25 lakh charged for a day on the Mumbai local system.

A shar fall from Rs.6.74 crore in 2013-14 to Rs. 3.2 crore in 2014-15 was observed in incomes from film shoots at Indian Railways Stations.

Traditionally and even today the Goregaon rail station is a favored destination among movie producers for its nearness to the film city. TV projects like “CID” and “Kaun Banega Crorepati” do their shooting here.
