Overview of Bilaspur Railway Station

Bilaspur Railway Station is situated in Bilaspur district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The name of the district comes from the founder of the village, who was a fisherwoman by name Bilasa. In the past, the Bhonsla Rajas, Marathas, and the British controlled the area. The railway station features a platform that spans over 802 meters, making it the third-longest railway platform after Kharagpur and Gorakhpur. During the British Raj, authorities built Bilaspur Railway Station in 1889 and inaugurated it along with the extension from Rajnandgaon to Bilaspur. Today, the headquarters in Bilaspur controls the entire South East Central Railway zone. The station has 8 platforms and 14 broad gauge tracks. Over 170 trains visit the station connecting various parts of India.

Currently, the railway station runs through the trunk line of Mumbai and Howrah. Most of the trains stop at Bilaspur railway station and certain trains start and end their journey from here. Among all the trains, Chhattisgarh Express is the oldest one, which travels from Amritsar to Bilaspur. The distance between these two stations is 1591kms and the journey takes 26 hours.

Bilaspur railway station is safe for the travellers as management has taken several steps to provide complete security to the place. CCTV surveillance is installed to monitor the activity at the railway station. The railway guards from Railway Police Force safeguard the place at all times.

Ratlam Railway Station is a major station in this city of the Malwa region of the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is also one of the major Junction and rail divisions of the broad gauge and meter gauge in the network of Indian Railways. It is under control of the Western Railway Zone of Indian railways. Ratlam can be termed as one of the busiest and most revenue collecting stations in Western Railway zone. The Ratlam division was established under Western Railways in 1956 under the partition scheme of Indian Railways.

This Rail link has a history of more than 130 years. The meter gauge section of Ratlam division was started in 1874 while the broad gauge was introduced in the year 1893. The four major routes of railways pass through the cities that are Delhi, Mumbai, Khandwa and Ajmer. Among them, only Khandwa is a meter gauge and all others are broad gauge.

The railway division of Indore also falls under Ratlam Division of Western Railways Zone. The Saharanpur railway station (station code SRE) is in Uttar Pradesh on the Ambala-Roorkee railway line in Northern Railway’s Ambala Cantonment Division. A major junction, it is a re-fueling station for diesel locomotives in the region. Barauni-Amritsar Jansewa Express, Dehradun-Bandra Express, Akal Takht Express, Indore-Dehradun Express, Dehradun-New Delhi Shatabdi Express, Shalimar Express and Jammu Tawi-Sealdah Express are the main train connections passing through Saharanpur. Saharanpur also is on the Delhi-Meerut-Saharanpur and Delhi–Shamli–Saharanpur lines. Haridwar is just about 80 km from Saharanpur. The Saharanpur station has six platforms and as many as 130 trains pass through the station every day. The Tapri station, six km from Saharanpur, is also associated with the city.

Overview of Panvel Railway Station – PNVL

With a heavy population, Panvel was once connected through land and sea trade routes. The Panvel Railway Station of Maharashtra is one of the most important junctions of the Central Railway. Having seven platforms, the station has four suburban and three main lines. The three main lines that meet at Panvel Junction are the harbour line from Mumbai CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus). The Central line from Diva/Kalyan/Bhiwandi and from Roha, Central Line from Karjat, Western Freight Corridor from JNPT (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust). Two more platforms are underway. There are 10 tracks in the station.

Platform Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 station Suburban trains and Platforms Nos. 5, 6 and 7 station Main Line Trains. Nearly, 18 daily-express trains, 26 non-daily express trains and 12 daily commuter (passenger) trains shuttle through Panvel Junction. In addition to this, there are about 116 Suburban trains journeying through this station to Thane, Mumbai CST, Andheri and Wadala Road. The Ernakulam- Nizamuddin Duronto halts here for crew change, catering and refuelling. Sizeable amounts of freight trains also move via this station. Equivalent to the Mumbai Railway Station. This station is an important one for those trains that do not stop at Mumbai.

The important trains that traverse through the Panvel Junction are the Konkan Kanya Express The Ernakulam- Pune Superfast Express, the Rajya Rani Express, the Ahmedabad- Manglore Superfast Express and the Mumbai Express.

Panvel Railway Station Facilities (PNVL)

Rebuilt in the year 2007, the Panvel Railway Station is the pivotal centre for the refuelling of trains. Unlike other tracks to Konkan, south to Panvel, this station is electrified. Parcel bookings, crew and locomotive change are also handled within this station. Waiting rooms and cloak rooms are at the passengers’ disposal within the station premises. Parking facilities are also available around the junction. Refreshment stalls and canteen provide snacks and food.

It has been serving millions of people from more than a century since its establishment in India in 1853 by East India Company. Which it has divided into 18 zones and 68 divisions.

Vijayawada is a major city located at the banks of the river Krishna in the state of Andhra Pradesh of Southern India. It is also known as the economic capital of Andhra Pradesh due to its involvement in large-scale trading and business activities. After Visakhapatnam, it is the largest city of Andhra Pradesh in terms of area. With an annual GDP of $3 billion. It is one of the most important economic hubs of the state and is expected to increase its GDP up to $17billion annually by 2025. Railways have played an important role in the growth of Vijayawada.

There are eleven small and big railway stations in Vijayawada serving people and economy of Vijayawada. These stations are Vijayawada Railway station (BZA), Madhuranagar Station (MDUN), Gunadala station (GALA), Rayanapadu station (RYP), Kondapalli station (KI), Nidamanuru station (NDM), Krishna Canal railway station (KCC), Ramavarappadu station (RMV), Mustabada Station (MBD), and Gannavaram station (GWM).

Vijayawada Railway Station (BZA) –

Vijayawada Railway station or BZA was established in the year 1888 is an important railway station that is controlled by the Vijayawada railway division of Southern Railway Zone. It lies on the Howrah-Chennai main line.

The railway station has a total of ten platforms that are equipped with all the basic amenities for passengers. All the platforms are long enough to handle trains with more than 24 coaches. The platform no. 7 and 8 have an additional track in between them, which serves as a service line for goods trains. It has five entrances with each having a computerised ticket booking office. And it receives more than 250 passenger trains and more than 150 freight trains on a daily basis making it one of the most engaged railway stations in the network of Indian Railways hosting more than 50 million passengers annually.

It is an A-1 grade station of Southern Railway Zone and generates revenue of more than 100 crore in a financial year.

Vijayawada railway station has a standard layout of the station with an efficient traction inside the station with 22 tracks. All the lines and tracks of Vijayawada station are broad gauge and electrified except one. The Machlipatnam – Vijayawada line is non-electrified, hence diesel locomotives are used for the traffic on this line.

The railway station of Vijayawada also acts as a junction for lines coming from five different Directions.

There is a Diesel loco Shed with a capacity of 100 locomotives. And also, an electric loc shed which has WAG-7, WAM-4 and WAG-5 models. After authorities shifted the headquarters of the South Eastern Railway Zone from Visakhapatnam to Bhubaneswar. The Vijayawada Railway Station underwent significant development and received an enhanced appearance in recent years. Officials introduced the Integrated Security Scheme as one of the most important upgrades. Which led to the construction of a concrete wall around the station premises and the installation of advanced surveillance and security systems at every entry and exit point. Authorities also focused on minimizing the number of entry and exit points as an added precaution against emerging security threats in India.

The railway station of Vijayawada is an important asset of the city. And has been playing an important role in the rapid growth of the city.

The Ernakulam Junction comes under the Southern Zone of Indian Railways and is controlled by Thiruvananthapuram Railway division. It is an A1 grade station of Southern Railways and there are around 128 trains either originating or terminating or passing from this station to other cities of India. Ernakulam Junction also has a Diesel loco shed, which is the only loco shed in the entire state of Kerala. It was set up in 1982 and works with around 54 diesel locomotives per month.

Ernakulam Town Railway Station –

Authorities built Ernakulam Town Railway Station (ERN) in 1890, and people also know it as Ernakulam North, making it one of the three major railway stations serving the city of Cochin. It has six platforms and four tracks for handling a large number of express and local passenger trains.

It is located in the northern part of the Cochin city and serves as a major stoppage for trains that are mainly headed towards Kottayam. This railway station provides convenience to the passengers that are travelling to and from the northern parts of Cochin City.

Aluva Railway station –

Aluva Railway Station or AWY is another major railway station in Cochin City and is the second busiest station in Kerala handling more than 30,000 passengers per day. It is an A grade station of Indian Railways, which fall sunder Thiruvananthapuram railway division.

Aluva railway station serves as an important halting point for many stations coming from different parts of the country. The elevation of Jaipur railway station from the sea level is 428 metres. It is a terminus railway station and many trains terminate here.

The Jaipur railway station is connected with other parts of the country with the meter gauge and broad gauge rail lines. Daily around 35000 passengers arrive at Jaipur station. The number of broad gauge trains arriving at the station is 88 and the number of metre gauge trains arriving at the station is 22 trains, which make it the busiest station in entire Rajasthan. There are seven platforms at station and has trains departing for all the major cities of the state and country such as Udaipur Jodhpur, Ajmer, Delhi, Chandigarh, etc. India’s most luxurious train ‘Palace on wheels’ has Jaipur as a major stoppage in its schedule.

The main lines that pass through Jaipur are Delhi-Ahmadabad line, Sawai Madhopur- Jaipur line and Jaipur-Sikar line. The Sawai Madhopur- Jaipur line terminates at Jaipur.

The Gandhinagar railway station is a small station situated in the Gandhinagar area of the city and serves the southern part of Jaipur city. Gandhinagar station is very close to Tonk road and Jawaharlal Nehru Marg of Jaipur.

This station has two platforms and two entry and exit points, on at each side of the station. There are many trains from and to Delhi, which have a scheduled stoppage at this station.
