Overview of Shahdara Railway Station – DSA

Shahdara is one of the oldest localities based in the state of Delhi and is a part of what is called as Purani Dilli. It is located on the bank of river Yamuna in the north east region of Delhi. Shahdara was primarily developed in the seventeenth-century around Chandrawali Bazaar or Chhota Bazaar. In older times, this was used as the main passage for Delhi to Meerut. Shahdara is considered to be the oldest suburbs in Delhi after Chandni Chowk. Shahdara has one of the biggest wholesale grain markets in Delhi and is also one of the biggest hubs for local textile processing markets.

Shahdara Railway Station –

The Shahdara railway station or DSA is an important component of infrastructure in this area and serves a large number of people, who have to commute to various destinations like Delhi, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. It also serves as a major means of transport for students who travel to Delhi University and other nearby educational institutions on a daily basis.

Shahdara railway station has four platforms and all of them are accessible easily via foot over bridges. The station has two entrance and exits and a good connectivity to Delhi metro via Shahdara metro station. It is a stoppage for all the local trains and many express trains passing through this station.

Shahdara railway station is equipped with all the modern amenities for the convenience of passengers using this station. The basic facilities like tea stalls, food courts and enquiry counters are available at every platform of the station.

Apart from that, it has a large waiting hall and a spacious parking for more than 1000 vehicles. The security has been put on first priority on this station and has all the security measures like X-ray baggage checking machine, Metal detectors and an ample number of railway police force personnel. There is also wheelchair facility available at the station premises for physically challenged passengers.

It also has a computerised ticket booking facility for both reserved and unreserved tickets and passengers can book tickets for any station in India from here.
