This is one the daily running express trains that connects Howrah in West Bengal to Dibrugarh in Assam, two important cities in Eastern India. This is an express train that operates under the North Frontier Railways by Tinsukia division with later extending to Dibrugarh town after the successful conversion of Guwahati- Lumding-Dibrugarh from meter gauge to broad gauge.

On every day basis, the train leaves Howrah at 17:35 hrs and reaches Dibrugarh on the same day around 4:50 hrs in the morning. On way it passes through Bandel, Dham, Nabadwip, Katwa, Malda Town, New jalpaiguri, Kishengunj, New Coochbehar, Fakiragram, New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, Guwahati, New Bongaigaon, Lumbding, Mariani, Dimapur, Duliajan and New Tinsukia to name a few.

It covers a distance of 1582 km daily and stops at 54 stations between the two destinations. Indian Railways has numbered the train 15959 going up and 15960 for the down train. This train runs over the broad gauge with an average speed of 42 km/hr.
