Bangalore Cantt Railway Station – BNC

Bangalore Cantt is a suburb of Bangalore city and was established in the time of British Raj. At that time, it was used as a Military Cantonment for British army. It has an area of 13 sq. Itarsi Railway Station is located in Hoshangabad District of Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This railway station belongs to West Central Railway Zone of India and is considered as one of the important railway stations to connect Southern and Northern India.

Over 200 trains visit this station every day from various parts of India. Itarsi Railway Station is about 18km away from Hoshangabad and is considered as the busiest railway station in the Bhopal region. Two new platforms were added for Nagpur, Jabalpur and Bhusawal Routes. To reach the Itarsi railway station, passengers have to hire a car or auto that will charge based on the standardised charges and distance of travel.

Trains arriving at this station undergo maintenance work such as changing engines from diesel to electric and vice-versa. Diesel engines of types WDP, WDM or WDG work on broad gauge trains. The electric engines WAP, WAM and WAG, are interchangeable with the diesel engines. The change in engine is mainly done to trains that run on Jabalpur to Satna Railway line. Sometimes trains passing through Bhopal also get this change at this station.

Overview of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai – CSTM

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is a significant railway station that is listed as the World Heritage Site by the headquarters of Central Railways. The structure of building is known to take influences of Mughal and Italian Gothic architecture. This station was designed by Frederick William Steven in 1887, and for his remarkable work on the building, he even received $25,000 from the British government. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus today is one of the busiest railway stations in India. The trains serving long distance journeys, as well as short ones in the suburban visit the station.

In the 19^th century, the Eastern Shore where station is located was called Bori Bunder. This was the place from where goods were exported from Mumbai. The first train was inaugurated from Bori Bunder to Thane and the distance of the journey was 35km. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus during the British rule was called by the name Victoria Terminus, later it was renamed after the 17^th century King.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Facilities –

As Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is one of the most important railway stations of Central Railways, public-private partnership has tried to make it a smart station by including all the modern facilities to passengers. In 2013, a new addition was made when Pawan Kumar Bansal, Union Railway Minister inaugurated the air-conditioned dormitories. This facility has 20 beds for women and 58 beds for men. The railway station is fully electrified. It has 18 platforms where facilities such as restaurant, bookshop, cafeteria, washroom, waiting room, ATM, phone booth and a diary shop are offered to passengers. After 2008 Mumbai attacks, this railway station is given the topmost security from Railway Police Force. Special CCTV cameras are also placed at the vulnerable places to avoid crime, robbery, and theft. Pay per use toilets at the station are well maintained to serve passengers any time of the day.

The cuisines in the restaurant are mainly North Indian, but popular Chinese and Italian dishes can also found in the restaurant.

Only a five-minute walk from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus can introduce passengers to delicious Pav bhaji and chicken rolls. Pav Bhaji is a treat made of bread stuffed with thick vegetable masala. The bread is also added with a good amount of butter to give an excellent taste. While walking in the market, one can also see shops with fire grills selling different varieties of Kebabs. Pani Puri, Samosa and Vada Chat are usual snacks eaten during evening. Bademiya is one of the famous shops selling Chicken tikka rolls in the area. This shop remains open till midnight and offers varieties of rolls and fried chicken. Bhel Puri is another common snack that is made from puffed rice added with an onion, sour mix, potato, sev, and chutney. Other foods that one can try are crab masala, channa bhatura, and Kheema Pav.

Overview of Vadodara Railway Station – BRC

Vadodara Railway Station, the main station of Vadodara, Gujarat is one of the busiest in the state and the nation. It is the major stop on the western railway zone of the Indian Railways. Built in the year 1861 by Maharaja Khanderao Gaekwad, the station was connected to Bombay, Baroda and Central Indian Railway Company. The station was later re-constructed in the year 1954. Completing 150 years of establishment, there were celebrations on 9^th January, 2010. Shuttling through this station are major trains like August Kranti Rajdhani Expresss, Golden Temple Mail, Mumbai Rajdhani Express, Avantika Express and Trivandrum Rajdhani Express.

Three railway lines within the station are a straight line connecting Ahmedabad and Mumbai, the next being a line between Vadodara and Chhote Udepur and a Delhi line via Ratlam, Kota and Mathura. Trains traversing the northern region use the Ratlam line. All the other trains including the Gujarat Mail, the Suryanagri Express, the Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express and the Ranakpur Express shuttle through the Ahmedabad- Mumbai line. There are about seven platforms in the station.

The Railway Staff College trains all levels of Indian Railway officers from probationers to General Managers. Rich in flora, the campus is spread across 55 acres of land of the Pratap Vilas Palace at Lalbaug, Vadodara.

Vadodara Railway Station Facilities –

For the convenience of passengers, latest facilities have been introduced in the station premises. This station is the first Western Railways station to get a biometric machine for passenger reservation. A passenger friendly system, it generates a token based on thumb impression of a person who wishes to book a ticket. Thwarting the system of booking multiple train tickets, this machine allows the passenger to register again only after three hours.

Two escalators have also been constructed on Platform No. 1 for the convenience of women and old. There are provisions of cloak rooms and waiting rooms as well.

Overview of Udaipur Railway Station – UDZ

Udaipur was the capital city of the kingdom of Mewar. The Mewar province became a part of Rajasthan after Independence. Coming under the Ajmer division of the North Western Zone of the Indian Railways, the Udaipur Railway Station has a broad gauge network that connects the city with major cities in Rajasthan along with other cities in India such as Jaipur, Kota, Khajuraho, Ajmer, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Alwar, Chittorgarh, Ujjain, Indore, Baroda, Gwalior and Surat. It also has a metre gauge network to Ahmedabad.

Luxurious trains also traverse through this station. Some of them are the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels, the Palace on Wheels, Maharaja Express, and The Indian Maharaja. The trains running between Udaipur and Delhi are Chetak Express and Mewar Express.

The places of tourist attraction are the many lakes, palaces and monuments with scenic beauty. Some of the lakes are Lake Pichola, Swaroop Sagar, Fateh Sagar Lake and Udai Sagar. Overview of Panvel Railway Station – PNVL

With a heavy population, Panvel was once connected through land and sea trade routes. The Panvel Railway Station of Maharashtra is one of the most important junctions of the Central Railway. Having seven platforms, the station has four suburban and three main lines. The three main lines that meet at Panvel Junction are the harbour line from Mumbai CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus), the Central line from Diva/Kalyan/Bhiwandi and from Roha, Central Line from Karjat, Western Freight Corridor from JNPT (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust). Two more platforms are underway. There are 10 tracks in the station.

Platform Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 station Suburban trains and Platforms Nos. 5, 6 and 7 station Main Line Trains. Nearly, 18 daily-express trains, 26 non-daily express trains and 12 daily commuter (passenger) trains shuttle through Panvel Junction. In addition to this, there are about 116 Suburban trains journeying through this station to Thane, Mumbai CST, Andheri and Wadala Road. The Ernakulam- Nizamuddin Duronto halts here for crew change, catering and refuelling. Sizeable amounts of freight trains also move via this station. Equivalent to the Mumbai Railway Station, this station is an important one for those trains that do not stop at Mumbai.

The important trains that traverse through the Panvel Junction are the Konkan Kanya Express, the Ernakulam- Pune Superfast Express, the Rajya Rani Express, the Ahmedabad- Manglore Superfast Express and the Mumbai Express.

Rebuilt in the year 2007, the Panvel Railway Station is the pivotal centre for the refuelling of trains. Unlike other tracks to Konkan, south to Panvel, this station is electrified. Nanded or Huzur Sahib Railway Station, situated in Maharashtra is a clean, huge and spacious station. It lies on the South Central Railway network which connects major cities of Mumbai, Nagpur, Manmad, Jalna, Pune, Parbhani, Aurangabad, Amravati, Kalyan, Akola, Igatpuri, Daund, Thane, Bhusawal, Pandharpur, Purna.
