Overview of Bilaspur Railway Station

Bilaspur Railway Station is situated in Bilaspur district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The name of the district comes from the founder of the village, who was a fisherwoman by name Bilasa. In the past, the Bhonsla Rajas, Marathas, and the British controlled the area. The railway station features a platform that spans over 802 meters, making it the third-longest railway platform after Kharagpur and Gorakhpur. During the British Raj, authorities built Bilaspur Railway Station in 1889 and inaugurated it along with the extension from Rajnandgaon to Bilaspur. Today, the headquarters in Bilaspur controls the entire South East Central Railway zone. The station has 8 platforms and 14 broad gauge tracks. Over 170 trains visit the station connecting various parts of India.

Currently, the railway station runs through the trunk line of Mumbai and Howrah. Most of the trains stop at Bilaspur railway station and certain trains start and end their journey from here. Among all the trains, Chhattisgarh Express is the oldest one, which travels from Amritsar to Bilaspur. The distance between these two stations is 1591kms and the journey takes 26 hours.

Bilaspur railway station is safe for the travellers as management has taken several steps to provide complete security to the place. CCTV surveillance is installed to monitor the activity at the railway station. The railway guards from Railway Police Force safeguard the place at all times.

Overview of Ratlam Railway Station – RTM

Ratlam Railway Station is a major station in this city of the Malwa region of the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is also one of the major Junction and rail divisions of the broad gauge and meter gauge in the network of Indian Railways. It is under control of the Western Railway Zone of Indian railways. Ratlam can be termed as one of the busiest and most revenue collecting stations in Western Railway zone. The Ratlam division was established under Western Railways in 1956 under the partition scheme of Indian Railways.

This Rail link has a history of more than 130 years. The meter gauge section of Ratlam division was started in 1874 while the broad gauge was introduced in the year 1893. The four major routes of railways pass through the cities that are Delhi, Mumbai, Khandwa and Ajmer. Among them, only Khandwa is a meter gauge and all others are broad gauge.

The railway division of Indore also falls under Ratlam Division of Western Railways Zone. Indore has direct connection to various major cities of the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow etc. The service of trains at Indore station is regular and frequent connecting Indore with other parts of the country. Indore is situated between Ratlam and Akola meter Gauge railway line and is one of the longest remaining metre gauge line in India.

Siliguri is a city located in the state of West Bengal, India. This city is located on the foothills of Himalayas and on the banks of River Mahananda. This place is famous for transport, tourism, tea and timber. There are three important railway stations in Siliguri namely Siliguri Junction, New Jalpaiguri Junction and Siliguri Town. Khandwa is a major city of Nimar area of Madhya Pradesh. It is also headquarter of Nagar Nigam of the locality. The city is the managerial centre of the district Khandwa and was named as East Nimar District previously. Satna is a popular and major city in Madhya Pradesh and has Satna Junction Railway Station as its main railway station. Overview of Habibganj Railway Station – HBJ – Bhopal

Habibganj is a major town in New Bhopal in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It has one railway station named Habibganj Railway station, which comes under control of the West Central Railway division of Indian Railways. The name Habibganj was given by the Begum of Bhopal which means “A lovely city” as she was very much influenced from the lush greenery and water resources present in this town. It is the first railway station in India to be awarded with ISO 9001 certification. Many major trains have stoppage and halt at this station.

The railway station of Habibganj is located on the main route of Jhansi-Bhopal-Itarsi route; hence there are trains available for every major destination from this station. Habibganj Railway Station is situated near the BHEL Township and lies at the east of the Upper Lake. It is one of the busiest stations of Bhopal city. The terminus of Habibganj Serves both express as well as local and intercity trains and locals prefer Habibganj station more than the main city station for their daily commute. The distance between Bhopal Main railway station and Habibganj railway station is around 7 kilometres whereas from Bhopal central, it is 10 kilometres away.

Facilities at the Habibganj Railway Station –

The facilities that are available at Habibganj Railway station include 36 computerised reservation counters for the convenience of the passengers. Along with that, it also has 23 un-reserved ticket counters for those, who wish to travel short distances. There are also 12 E-ticket counters established equipped with advanced technology where passengers get the facility to make online payments for their ticket reservations and receive the tickets almost instantly. There is also an ATM provided by SBI for passenger convenience. The time-table of the trains is displayed in normal as well as Braille form for assistance of visually impaired passengers. There are total 37 waiting rooms out of which 14 are fro gents and 12 are for ladies and 11 waiting rooms with air conditioning facility.

Overview of Bangalore City Railway Station – SBC

Bangalore City Railway Station (codenamed SBC) is one of the busiest stations within Southern Western Railways. The station is located in the heart of the city and handles close to 220,000 passengers daily. It station has ten platforms and handles 88 trains daily including 63 express trains. The city station is a central hub in Southern India and has connectivity with every major railway station in the country. Located opposite to the Kempegowda Bus Station, the Bangalore City station has high passenger density and railways are preferred means of transportation among the city dwellers.

Bangalore City Station is equipped with 18 reservation counters and 25 unreserved ticket counters. The station also is major coaching terminal with six tracks for train maintenance services. Indeed, the city station was once part of Mysore State Railways promoted by Princely State of Mysore. Five major railway lines cross Bangalore City station towards Chennai, Hosur, Mysore, Tumkur, and Hyderabad. These lines provide interface with Western, Northern, and Eastern Railway Zones. All the railway lanes originating from Bangalore City were electrified and have been operational for some time.

The station hosts a variety of passenger amenities ranging from digital reservation charts, advance reservation display, reflective indication boards, ATM facility, telephone booths, dedicated baby care facility, well-maintained dormitories, air-conditioned lounge, and ‘May I Help You’ centre. The technology played a vital role in the station maintenance and other information services offered are really a great help to the passengers. Information kiosks, Paid waiting lounge, tourist information centres, ferry cart, on-board entertainment, emergency medical centre, book stalls, escalators, and Interactive Voice Responsive System (IVRS) services position Bangalore City station as one of the sophisticated stations in the country.

Bangalore City station also provides high quality of food restaurants, continuous water supply, emphasis on cleanliness & maintenance of the station and support for the differently abled within the confines of the station perimeter. These value-added services turn the experience of travelling so pleasurable visiting Bangalore City station. There are multiple transportation services from the city station. Apart from the bus services opposite to the railway station, there are prepaid taxi services, car rental service, prepaid autos, and intercity bus service from the station. The Station puts great focus on the safety of the passengers using the Indian Railways and is equipped with bomb detection squad, CCTV surveillance, baggage checking counter, and a strong contingent of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Army Intelligence.

The City Station also houses an art gallery, heritage gallery, murals walls, cartoon gallery, statues and LED lighting to entertain the passengers during their time at the station. The heritage gallery archives lot of history on the Indian Railways and how the Bangalore division was set up during the early 1981. The evolution of the Southern Western Railways is explained through paintings. Bangalore city station is the highest revenue generating station for the entire Bangalore division, which comprises of 989 Kilometres across three states: Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

The nearest railway stations to the Bangalore City are Yesvantpur Junction (5 KM), Baiyyappanahalli (11 KM), and Krishnarajapuram (14 KM). All these three satellite stations were developed over the years to reduce passenger traffic at the Bangalore City station.

Yesvantpur Railway Station –

The station codenamed YPR serves as the first satellite station for Bangalore City station. Yesvantpur junction is located on the Bangalore – Miraj main line and crossing with trains heading to Hubli. The station is located in Yesvantpur region and is one of the fast developing parts of the sub-urban Bangalore city. With close proximity to this station, many dwellers prefer to board from Yesvantpur junction. There are few super-fast and express trains originating from this station, as well.

Baiyyappanahalli Railway Station –

This station codenamed BYPL is third satellite station developed to supplement the Bangalore city station. The station also has the capacity for the coach maintenance services and recently received 80 crore funding for development of a new coach terminal. Baiyyappanahalli station will likely have new trains originating from here to other parts of the country to decongest the Bangalore and Yesvantpur stations. The station houses a metro station, interstate bus terminal, and modernisation is underway to upgrade the facilities and amenities. The metro station is part of the Namma Metro project in Bangalore.

Krishnarajapuram Railway Station –

A suburb station in Krishnarajapuram and at a distance of 14 km from Bangalore City Railway station, Krishnarajapuram Railway Station is situated at the junction of Outer Ring Road, Bangalore and Old Madras Road (NH 4) with a line from Guntakal also joining the track into the station. Since it serves International Tech Park along with the local population, most of the trains stop here.
