Overview of Krishnarajapuram Railway Station

Krishnarajapuram Railway Station or K.R. Puram is a suburb 15 km from Bangalore City Railway Station. A taluka headquarters, it has many government offices. The Vengayyana Lake is at its centre and the large Yelemallappa Shetty Lake is on the east of Krishnarajapuram.

Krishnarajapuram Junction Railway Station (station code KJM) serves the international tech park along and the nearby region where many of its staffers live. So, many trains halt at Krishnarajapuram station. Krishnarajapuram Junction is on the Bangalore-Chennai main line of the South Western Railway in the Bangalore division. There is also a line to Guntakal and this track is used mostly by goods trains and oil tankers. A few Tamil Nadu and Kerala express trains heading towards the north use this line to bypass Bangalore. All trains going from Yeshvantapur Railway Station towards Bangarpet stop at Krishnarajapuram Junction.

Krishnarajapuram has four platforms and has two tracks for non-stop trains. Long-distance trains stop on platform No. 4 and incoming trains at platform No. 3. The short platform No. 1 receives goods and mail trains. It is a busy station with as many as 89 trains stopping at the station every day. Indian Railways connects the station to cities such as Chennai, Arakkonam, Bhubaneswar, Howrah, Brindavan, Nagercoil, Mumbai, Tirupati, Thiruvananthapuram, Kanyakumari, Coimbatore, and Rajkot through its railway network.

Krishnarajapuram Junction Railway Station has a computerized ticket booking and reservation counters, a food court, waiting room for upper classes, pre-paid auto-rickshaws, tea stalls and drinking water facilities. A general waiting room too is at the planning stage. Authorities upgraded the old station about a year ago and extended its short platforms to accommodate trains with more coaches. They also covered the platforms. However, regular commuters say the station still faces water shortages and needs stronger security.

The Bareilly Railway Station (station code BE) is an important station in Northern Railway’s Moradabad Division. The Bareilly Bareilly Railway Station has as many as six lines and seven (four broad gauge, three meter gauge) platforms. Some of the lines are meter gauge. Indian Railways electrified the station in 2013 and connects it directly to cities like New Delhi, Lucknow, Jammu Tawi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Aligarh, Kolkata, and Mathura through regular train services. Inter-city trains run between Bareilly and Meerut and Lucknow. Six other railway stations serve Bareilly city. Many trains originate and terminate at Bareilly. As many as 234 trains cross the station every day.

Trains connected Bareilly Railway Station well from the 19th century. The Bengal and North Western Railway took over the Tirhut State Railway in 1890. The Lucknow-Sitapur-Seramow Provincial State Railway and the Bareilly-Pilibheet Provincial State Railway merged to form the Lucknow-Bareilly Railway in 1891. The Oudh and Tirhut Railway Company operated the line until 1943, when it merged with the Rohilkund and Kumaon Railway. In 1952, Indian Railways formed the North Eastern Railway with its headquarters in Gorakhpur.

Overview of Saharanpur Railway Station – SRE

The Saharanpur railway station (station code SRE) is in Uttar Pradesh on the Ambala-Roorkee railway line in Northern Railway’s Ambala Cantonment Division. A major junction, it is a re-fueling station for diesel locomotives in the region. Barauni-Amritsar Jansewa Express, Dehradun-Bandra Express, Akal Takht Express, Indore-Dehradun Express, Dehradun-New Delhi Shatabdi Express, Shalimar Express and Jammu Tawi-Sealdah Express are the main train connections passing through Saharanpur. Saharanpur also is on the Delhi-Meerut-Saharanpur and Delhi–Shamli–Saharanpur lines. Haridwar is just about 80 km from Saharanpur. The Saharanpur station has six platforms and as many as 130 trains pass through the station every day. The Tapri station, six km from Saharanpur, is also associated with the city.

Facilities at Saharanpur Railway Station

The station is just about average when cleanliness is considered. The performance of porters is poor. However, the food served and the transportation available is fairly good. The lodging facilities and the safety level are average. But the sightseeing possibilities here are good. The station has computerized seat reservation facility, four non-AC retiring rooms with double beds at Rs100 a day, waiting rooms, a canteen, sweets shop, tea stalls and food stalls at the station. The station also has the parking facility.

Popular Dishes

The Saharanpur cuisine has evolved over the ages during rules by different dynasties. It also displays the Mughlai and Awadhi influence as also the impact of the North Indian vegetarian cuisine. The cuisine of Saharanpur is predominantly vegetarian. It is liberal in the use of milk products, vegetables and fruits. Saharanpur is well known for sugar and mangoes. It has over 500 varieties of mangoes. Among the more popular are the sweet chausa mango of a fair size and the yellow gulab jamun mango, which is much bigger than a normal mango.

So sweets with mango as base are quite common. Mutton, paneer, spices kababs and dum biryani are common. Chaat, samosa and pakora are the popular snacks. Paranthas, baati chokha, chhole bhature, kofta, daal makhani, roti, puri are popular in meals. People in the region favor sweets such as gulab jamun, jalebi, balushahi, barfi, gajar halwa, laddus, peda, rabadi, and various Bengali sweets.

Warangal Railway Station stands in Warangal, Telangana, and serves as one of the main stations in the Vijayawada–Kazipet region. The Secunderabad Railway Division administers the station, as it falls under the South Central Railway Zone. It is one of the stations that connect Delhi to Chennai railway line. The trains running in Warangal- Vijayawada section pass by this railway station during their journey in Andhra Pradesh. Overview of Panvel Railway Station – PNVL

With a heavy population, Panvel was once connected through land and sea trade routes. The Panvel Railway Station of Maharashtra is one of the most important junctions of the Central Railway. Having seven platforms, the station has four suburban and three main lines. The three main lines that meet at Panvel Junction are the harbour line from Mumbai CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus). The Central line from Diva/Kalyan/Bhiwandi and from Roha, Central Line from Karjat, Western Freight Corridor from JNPT (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust). Two more platforms are underway. There are 10 tracks in the station.

Platform Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 station Suburban trains and Platforms Nos. 5, 6 and 7 station Main Line Trains. Nearly, 18 daily-express trains, 26 non-daily express trains and 12 daily commuter (passenger) trains shuttle through Panvel Junction. In addition to this, there are about 116 Suburban trains journeying through this station to Thane, Mumbai CST, Andheri and Wadala Road. The Ernakulam- Nizamuddin Duronto halts here for crew change, catering and refuelling. Sizeable amounts of freight trains also move via this station. Equivalent to the Mumbai Railway Station. This station is an important one for those trains that do not stop at Mumbai.

The important trains that traverse through the Panvel Junction are the Konkan Kanya Express The Ernakulam- Pune Superfast Express, the Rajya Rani Express, the Ahmedabad- Manglore Superfast Express and the Mumbai Express.

Panvel Railway Station Facilities (PNVL)

Rebuilt in the year 2007, the Panvel Railway Station is the pivotal centre for the refuelling of trains. Unlike other tracks to Konkan, south to Panvel, this station is electrified. Parcel bookings, crew and locomotive change are also handled within this station. Waiting rooms and cloak rooms are at the passengers’ disposal within the station premises. Parking facilities are also available around the junction. Refreshment stalls and canteen provide snacks and food.

Overview of Vijayawada Railway Station – BZA

Here you know all about Vijayawada Railway Station. Indian railway is one of the most used and largest rail networks in this world. It has been serving millions of people from more than a century since its establishment in India in 1853 by East India Company. Indian Railways operates more than 8,000 railway stations, and it equips most of them with modern passenger amenities. The affordable fares and good services make it the ideal means of transport for people of India. Indian Railways carries millions of passengers and tonnes of freight to various destinations every day. The Ministry of Railways under the Government of India manages Indian Railways. Which it has divided into 18 zones and 68 divisions.

Vijayawada is a major city located at the banks of the river Krishna in the state of Andhra Pradesh of Southern India. It is also known as the economic capital of Andhra Pradesh due to its involvement in large-scale trading and business activities. After Visakhapatnam, it is the largest city of Andhra Pradesh in terms of area. With an annual GDP of $3 billion. It is one of the most important economic hubs of the state and is expected to increase its GDP up to $17billion annually by 2025. Railways have played an important role in the growth of Vijayawada.

There are eleven small and big railway stations in Vijayawada serving people and economy of Vijayawada. These stations are Vijayawada Railway station (BZA), Madhuranagar Station (MDUN), Gunadala station (GALA), Rayanapadu station (RYP), Kondapalli station (KI), Nidamanuru station (NDM), Krishna Canal railway station (KCC), Ramavarappadu station (RMV), Mustabada Station (MBD), and Gannavaram station (GWM).

Vijayawada Railway Station (BZA) –

Vijayawada Railway station or BZA was established in the year 1888 is an important railway station that is controlled by the Vijayawada railway division of Southern Railway Zone. It lies on the Howrah-Chennai main line.

Vijayawada-Kazipet line
Vijayawada-New Delhi line

The railway station has a total of ten platforms that are equipped with all the basic amenities for passengers. All the platforms are long enough to handle trains with more than 24 coaches. The platform no. 7 and 8 have an additional track in between them, which serves as a service line for goods trains. It has five entrances with each having a computerised ticket booking office. And it receives more than 250 passenger trains and more than 150 freight trains on a daily basis making it one of the most engaged railway stations in the network of Indian Railways hosting more than 50 million passengers annually.

It is an A-1 grade station of Southern Railway Zone and generates revenue of more than 100 crore in a financial year.

Vijayawada railway station has a standard layout of the station with an efficient traction inside the station with 22 tracks. All the lines and tracks of Vijayawada station are broad gauge and electrified except one. The Machlipatnam – Vijayawada line is non-electrified, hence diesel locomotives are used for the traffic on this line.

The railway station of Vijayawada also acts as a junction for lines coming from five different Directions.

Vijayawada – Guntakal – Bangalore – Guntur
Vijayawada – Warangal
Vijayawada – Rajamundry– Eluru – Howrah
Vijayawada – Machilipatnam – Gudivada

There is a Diesel loco Shed with a capacity of 100 locomotives. And also, an electric loc shed which has WAG-7, WAM-4 and WAG-5 models. After authorities shifted the headquarters of the South Eastern Railway Zone from Visakhapatnam to Bhubaneswar. The Vijayawada Railway Station underwent significant development and received an enhanced appearance in recent years. Officials introduced the Integrated Security Scheme as one of the most important upgrades. Which led to the construction of a concrete wall around the station premises and the installation of advanced surveillance and security systems at every entry and exit point. Authorities also focused on minimizing the number of entry and exit points as an added precaution against emerging security threats in India.

The railway station of Vijayawada is an important asset of the city. And has been playing an important role in the rapid growth of the city.

Ernakulam Junction –

Ernakulam Junction or ERS is also known as south station and is the main and largest station of Cochin City. There are six platforms in this station along with two terminals that are the main entry and eastern entry. The Junction has four lines from four directions meeting at this point. These four lines come from Shormur in North, Alappuzha in South, Willingdonn Island in South-west and Kottayam in East.

The Ernakulam Junction comes under the Southern Zone of Indian Railways and is controlled by Thiruvananthapuram Railway division. It is an A1 grade station of Southern Railways and there are around 128 trains either originating or terminating or passing from this station to other cities of India. It was the first station in Kerala to include an escalator in 2013.

Ernakulam Junction also has a Diesel loco shed, which is the only loco shed in the entire state of Kerala. It was set up in 1982 and works with around 54 diesel locomotives per month.

Ernakulam Town Railway Station –

Authorities built Ernakulam Town Railway Station (ERN) in 1890, and people also know it as Ernakulam North, making it one of the three major railway stations serving the city of Cochin. It has six platforms and four tracks for handling a large number of express and local passenger trains.

It is located in the northern part of the Cochin city and serves as a major stoppage for trains that are mainly headed towards Kottayam. This railway station provides convenience to the passengers that are travelling to and from the northern parts of Cochin City.

Aluva Railway station –

Aluva Railway Station or AWY is another major railway station in Cochin City and is the second busiest station in Kerala handling more than 30,000 passengers per day. It is an A grade station of Indian Railways, which fall sunder Thiruvananthapuram railway division.

Aluva railway station serves as an important halting point for many stations coming from different parts of the country. It is a convenient option for people who are travelling to and from Cochin International Airport. This railway station proves to be very helpful in reduction of congestion from Ernakulam north and Ernakulam south railway stations.

Aluva Railway Station has three platforms that handle long-distance and local passenger trains, and it dedicates one platform specifically for cargo trains. There are around 53 express trains and 9 passenger trains that pass through Aluva station daily.
