About 12727/28 Godavari Express
Godavari Express is one of the most popular and prestigious trains operated by Indian Railways in South India. Running between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. This daily Superfast Express has been serving passengers for decades and is known for its reliability, comfort, and convenient timings. The train operates with numbers 12727 (Visakhapatnam–Hyderabad) and 12728 (Hyderabad–Visakhapatnam).
Originally known as the Waltair–Hyderabad Express, the train was later renamed Godavari Express due to its importance in connecting the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh with Telangana. It provides excellent connectivity to major regions including Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, and Hyderabad.
The train covers a distance of approximately 710 kilometres in around 12 to 13 hours, maintaining an average speed of nearly 60 km/h. It runs on broad-gauge tracks and offers several travel classes, including AC First Class, AC 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier, Sleeper Class, and General coaches, catering to different categories of passengers.
Godavari Express is widely preferred by business travellers, students, tourists, and daily commuters because of its comfortable coaches and punctual service. Modern passenger amenities such as mobile charging points, clean washrooms, reservation facilities, and onboard housekeeping services enhance the travel experience.
While pantry car availability may vary depending on the current rake composition, passengers can conveniently order meals through IRCTC e-Catering and authorized food delivery services at selected stations along the route.
The train made its inaugural run on 1 February 1974 and continues to be one of the flagship train services connecting Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Its long-standing reputation and dependable service make it a preferred choice for rail travellers across the region.
