Moving away from Mumbai, the food found in Ratnagiri is more in a combination with Malwani and towards the coast, more Konkani. Even with all the alterations, the basic remain the same. And the combinations are so light and well infused, one can hardly tell the difference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mumbai is a vast city and without well chalked out plans, one can get lost or lose their head in the many things to do. I remain unchanged about my favourites\u2014 sabudana vada and poha. On your next visit to Mumbai, if you wish to explore some local Maharashtrian cuisine, try any of the following.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Panishkar<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Located in Girgaon, Panishkar is an old and reliable name. Their website states of their humble beginnings in 1921. They focus on sweets and snacks and their kharwas are a must try here. Made of dairy, these sweets are fresh and a delight here. The other things worth a try is a slightly spicy Puneri missal, the satisfying main course masala bhaat, and peda in the many flavours. This place is also frequented by celebrities for their delicious bites.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Address:<\/strong> Mohan building, Jagannath ShankarSheth Road, Girgaon | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.panishkarfoods.com\">www.panishkarfoods.com<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Diva Maharashtracha<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With \u2018Maharashtra\u2019 in its last name, it is tough to go wrong in this place. Though this place is a contemporary restobar with Peshwa decor and a modern day experience. Sol kadhi, the traditional drink with kokum and the modaks, the photogenic Maharashtrian dumplings made here with a contemporary twist are popular demands. In the main course, do try their jowar bhakri and any of their usual dishes. The thalipeeth, puran poli, puri bhaji and kokum sherbet are a must here. Prakash serves authentic Maharashtrian food which has been approved by the locals. In my visit here, I hogged and finished the poha. And since there is always a crowd to face here (especially on weekdays), be prepared to share table with strangers. Either way, it doesn&#8217;t deter the experience. Don\u2019t look for service or quality here. It is a simple transaction of eating good food. The piyush or the watery shrikhand is mouth-watering here, for those have an active sweet tooth. Definitely try any of the bhakri varities.
