Carrying ID Card Necessary for All Railway’s Reserved Classes

In order to prevent the railway tickets from black-marketing, Indian Railways has made an announcement that it is mandatory for all passengers to carry Identity proof in original during travel for all reserved classes of the Indian railways trains. The rule will also be applicable onto persons purchasing train tickets from Indian Railway’s ticket counters. For a group-ticket, Identity proof of at least one person will be mandatory. Previously the identification was mandatory only for passengers traveling on Tatkal tickets, e-tickets or the passengers undertaking journey in AC classes. With this new provision, the condition of carrying one of the prescribed identity cards has now been extended additionally to these classes of travel – Reserved Second Class (2S), III Economy Class (3E), Sleeper Class (SL) and First Class(FC).
