The New Delhi railway station being the main railway station in the country’s capital is the busiest and the largest railway station in India. Serving with over 350 trains for approximately 500,000 passengers in a day, the New Delhi Railway Station is always on the rush. The Railway Station underwent a major modernization program that started in the year 2007 and was completed by the end of 2009. Major modifications were done on the infrastructure to offer a modernized appearance to the entire station.

The modernization was done with aim to expand and improve the railway station’s performance before the start of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. In 2013, the Delhi station installed free Wi-Fi service for the entire station so that the passengers can make use of the service for various travel related enquiries.

The New Delhi station on the yellow line and the Delhi Airport Metro express serve the New Delhi railway station to provide metro access to its customers. The Delhi Airport Metro express is in high demand as it connects the station to the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Various online services are also available in the New Delhi railway station for the convenience of the large numbers of passengers that the station observes every day. Passengers can make use of the Wi-Fi facility and check the seat availability, train time table, PNR status, train running status and many such services to always be a step ahead on their busy travelling schedule. Due to large number of concerns from the passengers regarding the quality of food in train, e-catering in train at New Delhi was introduced recently as an effective method to improve food quality.

Passengers can check the IRCTC e-catering site or any of many other privatized e-catering portals that are available online, to get the food delivery in train at New Delhi. Passengers simply have to book their order in advance and the food is delivered when the train halts at the station. Passengers can also choose the restaurant of their choice and the food will be prepared from your favorite restaurant for quality assurance. With these remarkable advancements in the system, the New Delhi Railway Station proves to be an ideal accessibility for Indians living around the country.
