Quite similar to airports, Indian Railways is been planning to seal stations and it will become as a mandate for all passengers to reach at least 15 to 20 minutes prior at railway station to the scheduled departure time of trains to finish the complete process of security check and verification. The Railway Protection Force Director General name Arun Kumar told PTI that the security plan is been in implementation and is backed with hi-end technology. Also, it has been put already in execution at Allahabad where Kumbh Mela is going to start this month along with at Hubli station in Karnataka where a blueprint is already devised covering over 202 stations.
The aim is to seal the stations. Primarily, it is introduced just for keeping an eye on the openings and figure out which ones could be closed. There are arenas that will be closed via permanent boundary walls, whereas others will be manned by the reckoned RPF personnel. Adding to this, many of them will suppose to be having collapsible gates. At each of the entry gate, there will be random security checks. Though, unlike at airports, passengers require not reaching hours in early, but coming at least 15 to 20 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of trains will work and will ensure that they are not late due to the security check process.
The security will increase, not the security personnel. If there has been adoption of technology, then manual force needs to be cut down. These measures are simply a part of the security plan devised under ISS – Integrated Security System that was approved in year 2016 meant to strengthen surveillance mechanism and system at 202 stations. Also, ISS will cover access control, CCTV, bomb detection, baggage screening system, disposal system that will need multiple checking of users from the entry point till the boarding. The expected cost of the project is about Rs. 385.06 Crore. The security check will involve real time facial recognition of passengers that will alert the RPF command center in case of any known perpetrator. The checking will be done on random basis and anyone could be the one who needs to undergo the process of security check.
