The System of PNR Status Checking Carries Immense Importance

As per the Railways Ticket booking perception, the “PNR status” stands and symbolizes this terminology as “Passenger Name Record”, that  is  a routine automated system generated  reference monitored by  Railways CRS (Central Reservation System) data base portfolio and getting generated as soon as ticket booker inputs  journey data like date of journey, passenger’s  name, gender,  age , train number ,Journey class,  berth preference,  contact link etc . It mobilizes a tremendous popularity among the people those are in need of booking ticket and getting to know the current status.

Alternatively, people can follow the process of knowing PNR status of booked tickets either by Indian Railways or by IRCTC via online by inputting 10 digits PNR number, the specified box is generally shown at the top left corner of the ticket both for counter ticket or e-ticket indeed. In order to obtain the correct position of the booked ticket, it is technically essential for any passenger to be aware of the PNR status codes duly categorized by Indian Railways and its details for eroding any misleading data.

  • CNF stands for – Confirmed (coach & berth numbers available after chart preparation)
  • RAC stands for – Reservation against cancellation number
  • W/L stands for – Waiting list number
  • Can/Mod stands for –   Cancelled or modified passenger

“Released” stands for – Original ticket cancelled, but alternative accommodation provided. Enquire with new PNR.

To monitor this vast operation, Indian railway also offers the PNR status checking process either over phone or by enjoying SMS facility through mobile phone.  Especially for SMS service, one requires to obtain a response from Railways end with reservation details with seat number.
